Helping Kids With Big Emotions

By Submitted By: JLF Counseling Services December 1, 2016

Raising kids is tough. Finding effective parenting strategies that work for your family can be even harder. As you are moving through your parenting journey, are you finding that there is no one solution for dealing with tantrums, meltdowns, anxiety or anger? Are you feeling frustrated and not enjoying parenthood as much as you thought you would? Tired of yelling? Modeling and teaching our kids about healthy expression of emotions, or emotional intelligence, can be overwhelming. In Helping Kids with Big Emotions Workshop, I will provide you with education about your child's (and the caregiver’s) emotions through understanding the brain. When we gain insight into how the brain works, we can apply that knowledge to helping our kids learn ways to manage their own emotions. We will also explore what emotional intelligence is and why it is extremely important.  Caregivers will leave with practical tools in how to respond instead of react (remember yelling?) to the emotions of their children. This workshop is for any parent looking to gain a greater understanding of the brain and overall emotional health.  This workshop is for caregivers only. No children please.
