Disney on Ice presents Passport to Adventure kicked off its Rochester stop on Wednesday night.  The show is led by everyone’s favorite classic Disney characters: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. The gang leads the audience through 4 different adventures, visiting some of our very favorite Disney stories:  The Lion King, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid and Frozen.  Each performance was special in its own way, inciting excitement throughout the Blue Cross Arena.

The Lion King was unique because one of the characters skated on 4 legs! My girls found the ice skating Pumbaa highly entertaining. The attention to detail, such as Simba growing a mane during the performance, as he grows older, made the story come to life. The ‘flying’ performers during Peter Pan gave the feeling that the audience was being moved from London to Neverland, just like Wendy, Michael and John. We loved the dancing pirates as well, and of course Tinkerbell and her pixie dust.  The Little Mermaid segment was my personal favorite. The ice was filled with singing and skating sea-life, bright colors and of course, mermaids. The larger than life Ursula brought a brief dark moment to the show, but as always, good prevailed. The final adventure of the show brought the audience to Arendelle, to spend time with Elsa, Anna and of course, Olaf. The special effects, authentic costumes and set design brought the ice to life. Elsa and Anna ended the show on a high note by bringing back all of the characters for one last song.

Disney on Ice presents Passport to Adventure will be playing through Sunday at Blue Cross Arena. There are multiple performances scheduled: Thursday, January 19 at 7pm, Friday, January 20 at 7pm, Saturday, January 21 at 11am, 3pm and 7pm and Sunday, January 22 at 2pm. Tickets are available at the box office or at www.ticketmaster.com.
