NXT UP Esports

Virtual Gaming

By Kelly Zaryk, Publisher Macaroni Kid Pittsford-SE Rochester, NY March 24, 2021

My oldest son Brady (age 10) took on a huge interest in Fortnite once he was home more during the pandemic. Most recently, I signed him for the NXT UP Esports Winter 2021 Youth Esports League featuring Fortnite.

We had a great experience right from the start with one-on-one assistance with setting everything up. The league meets 2 late afternoons a week for practice and games are on Friday nights. He's been able to meet new kids (near and far) from this league and he continues to tell me how much he's learned from this program. He also has told me that his coach is "so cool"! I'm happy he can be safe, social, and have fun with this program.

If you are unfamiliar with NXT UP Esports, it's a leader in youth gaming and Esports programs. Their focus is on developing each player's self-confidence and social skills, and, of course, helping them get better at the games they love. Players will learn game strategy, mechanics, teamwork, communication, and accountability through fun, team-based games and exercises. Parents can feel safe knowing their child is only playing with other kids in their program and learning important life skills through video games.

They have programs for boys and girls ages 7-10 & 11-15 of all skill levels. Each camp is a coached by trained, high level coaches who have all passed third party background checks before working with the kids.

Summer Camp details:
Each summer camp is specific to one game: Fortnite, League of Legends, or Minecraft. Camps are all VIRTUAL; players connect with their teammates and coach through the game and Discord, a digital communication app that NXT UP Esports uses to maintain safe and clear communication. Kids will make friends and socialize safely all online!
