Black Diamond Train Rides with Live Music

By Kelly Zaryk, Publisher Macaroni Kid Pittsford-SE Rochester, NY July 21, 2021

All aboard for fun vintage train rides!  We went to celebrate history of the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the 80th birthday of their caboose 95100 at a special event!  They wrapped up a multi-year restoration completed by their volunteers.  The Leigh Valley Railroad was called the "Route of the Black Diamond" because of the lucrative coal traffic it once carried.  We enjoyed live original music and covers by Adrianna Noone, in a modern style that blends jazz, pop, blues and folk influences.

During our visit we enjoyed a train ride that toured their museum grounds which is New York's largest collection of historic trains.  We went on a mile-and-a-half round trip train ride through their bucolic museum grounds.  Toured their exhibits and took a peed behind the scenes in their restoration shop.  Snacks are available for purchase.  Their museum gift shop is stocked with souvenirs for train buffs of all ages.  Trains depart every 30 minutes from 10am to 3pm .  All aboard!
