Splashlagoon Waterpark in Erie, PA

Family Fun!

Our family was in desperate need to get out of Rochester for a change of scenery during Winter Break Week!!  We booked the package deal that was offered at the end of 2021 which included waterpark passes, hotel room, arcade credit and dining gift card which was a great deal!  We personally had to add on the two extra kiddos since it was for a family 4 pack but it wasn't much more.

It was just under 3 hours away, straight down the thruway.  We arrived around 12pm and check in wasn't until 4pm but we were able to get our waterpark passes and change into our swimsuits in the Splash lagoon lockers.  I wish were there a little earlier to grab a table to put all our stuff on but eventually we found a spot.

It's a nice big waterpark but small enough where I could let my 3 oldest boys (ages 11, 8 and 6) adventure out on their own.  I took my 4 year old around and he felt too big for the little baby area which was a great spot for parents to entertain their littles ones so he went on the big slides with me and had a blast!

It was a popular spot during the school break week, I even saw 3 people I knew from Rochester within the first few hours we were there.  I was shocked on how patient my kids were waiting in the long lines.  My 8 year old isn't a huge ride and slide kid but there was a separate pool area with basketball hoops that he loved swimming and dunking in.  The lazy river that was jammed up a few times but you could keep going around as many times as you wanted.  I never did make it over to the hot tubs since I was glued to my 4 year old but I saw a lot of parents relaxing in there.

There are a few different places to eat in the waterpark too so you don't have to go far to grab a bite to fuel up.  I found the bar which I had a drink by the wave pool and pretended my feet were in the sand, it was 84 degrees in there.  The wave pool was fun for all 4 of my boys together, they couldn't get enough when the waves started each time.  Right next to that is the surf pool which was worth the long wait.

After we checked in our room, we changed for dinner and realized everyone was doing the same thing and the waterpark all of the sudden had no lines.  We wish we knew that ahead of time and decided we were going to switch our days around for our 2nd day there.  We also learned that during the week the restaurants and waterpark open at different times, we didn't plan very well.  And that's why I'm sharing my feedback with you here so you can learn from our experience ha!

The boys did love the HUGE arcade and entertained them for awhile which was attached to an ice cream shop that made us feel more like we were in a warm destination.

Overall we had a nice little family getaway but I'm not sure we needed to stay overnight if we were to do it again.  Trying to entertain the 4 boys the next morning until anything opened was hard to do, especially in the winter months when it's just too cold to go outside.  I think if I had just my 3 oldest boys there the morning wait would have been fine since they would just relax and play on their devices.

Keep an eye out for those special packages they put out there, the bundle deals really are a great deal!
